Poor little blog, it’s been a bit neglected lately. I’ve done a bit more dyeing, made some great tomato pie from a recipe Lisa recommended,

got my son moved into an apartment in Seattle, my daughter off to the first day of her last year of high school, and went to see the Keiskamma Altarpiece,

a remarkable artwork of embroidery, applique, and beadwork. I’ll go into more detail about it later.

Just wanted to let you know that I am still alive & do mean to get back to you.. Life, Computer Issues (the one with the email program on it, anyway), and the Universe are having a jolly time thwarting me! ;P

That Life thing seems to be going around. Beth and Lynne have only just checked in after long absences too, and yours truly has been in Pattern Purdah lately and guilty of a certain amount of blog neglect in the process.
Stupid Universe.
Hey, you actually MADE the Tomato Pie! And it turned out well, I gather – sure looks good. So… after all that, what kind of tomatoes *did* you use?

Pattern Purdah — I hope you don’t get immolated at the end! The tomato pie was great. I used the heirloom tomatoes that were at my market, one red, one yellow, and about three small green-but-ripe ones. It was bit too juicy, I think Romas would have been better.

I think you may be confusing purdah with sati.
Though actually I kinda feel like I was immolated at the beginning, and what’s still slogging away in the home stretch is the mere ashes of my former self.
Eatin’ tomatoes, then, rather than cookin’ ones? That’s what I was wondering about all along.

Lisa, you are right, purdah doesn’t necessarily end in sati. Perhaps you will rise, phoenix-like, when you are done?
