The good news is that the box of yarn Jennifer sent me is not lost. Hurray! The bad news is that it’s back at Jennifer’s because I hadn’t changed my Zip code on my Paypal account with sufficient thoroughness after the post office gave me a new one. Oh. So the post office got tired of taking mis-zipcoded packages from this stack and putting them in that stack and sent it back to her — with postage due, adding insult to injury.
At any rate, it’s on it’s way again, correctly addressed, and will be here directly. And Marie at the yarn shop is very understanding about shipping issues, so that’s all right. This waiting thing — I’m getting very good at it.

yayayay! The yarn is on its way! Twas getting a wee bit worried about it…
…er, and yes, I do have your soap all wrapped & labeled & should be sent on its merry way by Monday if I can stay focused that long and the Procrastination Beast doesn’t lock me in the closet again.

I heard this story this morning with gasps of disbelief. I suppose the most astonishing thing about it is that the yarn was ever found, no matter why it went missing. Stupid post office. Their own fault for giving you a new zip code. Warn’t nothing wrong with the old one, I bet. New zip code, indeed. All this new-fangled fancy progress stuff is vastly overrated if you ask me.

Sandy — Hurray for soap! I’m not saying we’re getting grubby around here, but we’ll sure enjoy it when it arrives.
Lisa — Our zip code was just too popular, see, and everyone wanted to move into it, straining its hospitable resources. So they subdivided it and put us in the new addition . . .which is also filling up fast. What really irks me is the way they’ve drawn the lines. The closest post office is 2 miles away, and never was ours. Ours was the one 3 miles away in the other direction. And now it’s not ours either, but it’s the one that’s 7 miles away in yet another direction, and not on my normal erranding path at all. So I can mail stuff and get stamps at the closest one, but anything requiring unusual services, like tracing packages, picking up packages, or getting held mail has to be done at the farthest one. Sigh.

Focus people, focus! Soap & postal issues later! What matters now, is mordants. My dear Astrid, what mordant did this young whipper snapper suggest you use to get that color? Also curious if she mentions a time of year for harvesting said ivy… and by the way, another use for ivy would be to feed the lambsies.
