As I mentioned quite a while back, I came across a cool project for Burning Man called A Tree Unraveled that is looking for knitted leaves that will be tied to a tree framework and then gradually unraveled over the course of Burning Man. I’ve only managed to get three done, but I sent them off to the artist today, before I could forget about it and be too late. The deadline for submissions is August 1 — you could knit a couple, too! Do check the guidelines — she only wants acrylic yarn.

It’s always good to have something to do with those acrylic leftovers! Another project a friend of mine does is knitted blankies for animal shelter kittens. No worries about whether the colors look good together.
The link to the larger leaf pattern is here, scroll down a bit: http://www.pokiedot.com/knit.htm

Indeedy! My local crochet group regularly makes squares to be put together as “Comfortghans” to give to people who have suffered loss… but we’ve not done one for pets before.. i should put that to the table next time i make it to a meeting!
And heh, *facepalm*, i had found that site & even knitted the smaller leaf but failed to notice that the large leaf was on the same page. *embarrassed grin*
I now have 2 small leaves, one knitted, one crocheted done & am working on knitting a larger one as well!
